About the artist
Kim Walker-Smith is an American worship leader and recording artist from Albany, Oregon, who rose to prominence as a lead vocalist for Jesus Culture, the worship ministry and band that emerged from Bethel Church in Redding, California. She has been part of Jesus Culture since its earliest days, helping shape the sound of the modern worship movement that swept evangelical churches in the 2000s and 2010s, and she has also served as a worship pastor at Bethel Church.
Her voice became closely associated with anthemic, emotionally charged worship songs built around long instrumental builds, congregational singing, and live-recorded energy, a style captured on Jesus Culture releases and on her own solo albums, starting with «Here Is My Song» in 2008 and continuing through later records including «On My Side» in 2017. Songs such as «Spirit Break Out», «How He Loves», «Fresh Outpouring» and «Throne Room» became staples of contemporary worship setlists in churches around the world.
Walker-Smith's work sits at the center of the Jesus Culture and Bethel worship ecosystem, and beyond performing she has taken on a leadership role within its music label. Her recordings, many captured live, are marked by a raw, passionate delivery that helped define the genre's live-worship aesthetic for a generation of listeners.
