About the artist
Kim Larsen & Bellami was a project formed by Danish singer-songwriter Kim Larsen, one of Denmark's most beloved musicians, best known as the frontman of the rock band Gasolin' before pursuing a long and prolific solo career. With Bellami, Larsen indulged a romantic vision of touring the country in a traveling caravan, bringing music directly to small towns and audiences outside the usual concert circuit. The band released four albums between 1986 and 1992, blending Larsen's warm, melodic songwriting with a looser, more folk- and roots-inflected pop sound than his mainline solo work.
The lineup drew on a rotating group of skilled Danish musicians, including Henning Pold on bass, drummers Hans Fagt and Jan Lysdahl, keyboardists Mikkel Hakonsson and Peter Ingemann, and guitarists Thomas Grue and Per Rasmussen. Songs such as «Jutlandia», «Om Lidt», «Pianomand» and «De Smukke Unge Mennesker» became part of the fabric of Danish popular song, admired for their plainspoken lyricism and gently theatrical, storytelling quality.
Bellami occupies a distinctive place in Larsen's catalogue: less a conventional band than a vehicle for his fascination with itinerant performance and everyman poetry. The project reinforced his reputation as a songwriter who could turn ordinary Danish life into memorable, singable narratives, and its albums remain cherished within his broader body of work.
