Kendji Girac

Kendji Girac is a French singer-songwriter born on 3 July 1996 in Périgueux, into a family of Manouche (Roma) heritage, a background that shaped the flamenco-tinged, gypsy-pop sound he became known for. He rose to fame in 2014 after winning the third season of the French television competition The Voice, signing shortly after with Polydor, part of Universal Music Group.

His debut album Kendji became a massive commercial success, driven by singles such as «Andalouse», «Color Gitano» and «Conmigo», blending French chanson with rumba flamenca, Latin rhythms and pop production. The record helped establish him as one of the most popular young artists in France in the mid-2010s. He followed it with the album Ensemble in 2015, led by the hit «Me Quemo», and continued to tour extensively across France and neighboring countries.

Beyond his solo career, Kendji Girac has been associated with the charity collective Les Enfoirés, reflecting his broader visibility in French popular culture. His music is characterized by warm acoustic guitar work, danceable Latin-Mediterranean grooves and accessible, romantic lyrics, keeping him a fixture of French mainstream pop and radio for over a decade.
