KC and the Sunshine Band

KC and the Sunshine Band are an American disco and funk band formed in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida, led by singer and songwriter Harry Wayne Casey (KC). Blending funk rhythms, Latin percussion, horn arrangements and irresistibly upbeat hooks, the band became one of the defining sounds of the disco era in the mid-to-late 1970s.

Their string of hits — including «Get Down Tonight», «That's the Way (I Like It)», «(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty», «I'm Your Boogie Man» and «Please Don't Go» — showcased the group's signature party energy and dancefloor-ready grooves, driven by tight horn sections and Casey's exuberant vocal delivery. The band scored multiple number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, making them one of the most commercially successful acts of the disco boom.

Beyond their own recordings, KC and the Sunshine Band's Miami-rooted sound, built at TK Records, influenced the broader disco and funk landscape and helped popularize the genre internationally.
