Juanes

Juanes, born Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, is a Colombian singer-songwriter from Medellín who first gained recognition as a member of the acoustic rock band Ekhymosis before launching a solo career. His 2000 solo debut, Fíjate Bien, won three Latin Grammy Awards and established him as a major new voice in Latin rock, blending rock, pop and traditional Colombian folk rhythms such as vallenato and cumbia into his songwriting.

His 2004 album Mi Sangre became an international breakthrough, propelled by the single «La Camisa Negra», which turned Juanes into one of the most recognizable Spanish-language artists of his generation. Other signature songs, including «A Dios Le Pido» and «Fotografía», showcase his ability to merge socially conscious lyrics with accessible, guitar-driven melodies.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Juanes has become one of Latin music's most awarded and commercially successful artists, celebrated for fusing rock instrumentation with Colombian folk textures. He remains an influential figure in Latin pop-rock, respected both for his musicianship and his advocacy work, including efforts related to landmine victims in Colombia.
