Jorge Rivera-Herrans

Jorge Rivera-Herrans was raised in Dorado, Puerto Rico, and initially pursued a pre-med path before discovering his passion for musical theatre while studying at the University of Notre Dame, from which he graduated in 2020. His pivot from medicine to composing led him to write «Stupid Humans» (later retitled «My Heart Says Go») with his professor Matt Hawkins, a musical that debuted to sold-out audiences at Notre Dame in 2019.

He is best known as the creator, composer, lyricist, and lead voice behind «EPIC: The Musical», a concept-album adaptation of Homer's «The Odyssey» released in themed installments called sagas. The project became a viral phenomenon, blending musical theatre songwriting with pop and rap influences to tell the story of Odysseus, with tracks like «Odysseus», «Monster», «The Challenge», and «God Games» showcasing his range from soaring balladry to intense, rap-inflected confrontations.

Rivera-Herrans performs many of the lead vocals himself, giving the project a distinctly personal authorial voice rare in musical theatre, and has built a large online following through the incremental saga-by-saga release format. Songs such as «Would You Fall In Love With Me Again» and «Love in Paradise» highlight his gift for emotional, character-driven songwriting alongside the project's more bombastic, genre-blending numbers.
