John Waite

John Waite is an English rock singer and songwriter who rose to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s, first as the frontman of the British rock band the Babys and later as a solo artist. His voice, marked by a raspy, emotive intensity, became one of the defining sounds of melodic rock and power ballads during that era.

Waite's solo career took off decisively with the 1984 album «No Brakes», which produced the massive hit «Missing You», a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became a signature anthem of heartbreak in the mid-1980s. He continued to release solo material through the following decades, blending rock, pop, and blues-rock influences.

Beyond his solo work, Waite was also a member of the supergroup Bad English in the late 1980s alongside former bandmates from the Babys and members of Journey, scoring another hit with «When I See You Smile».
