About the artist
JLS are a British boy band formed in London in 2007, consisting of Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and JB Gill. The group's name is an initialism for «Jack the Lad Swing». They rose to national attention as runners-up on the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, losing to Alexandra Burke but going on to achieve far greater commercial success than many winners of the show.
Musically, JLS built their sound around polished pop and R&B, with dance-pop and electronic production choices that made them staples of UK radio and chart shows in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Singles such as «Beat Again», «Everybody in Love» and «One Shot» showcased tight vocal harmonies typical of the boy-band format, while later material like «She Makes Me Wanna» leaned into more club-oriented, uptempo production.
Over their initial run the group released multiple albums and became one of the most commercially successful UK vocal groups of their era, before disbanding in December 2013. They later reunited for live performances. JLS remain a reference point in British pop for their blend of choreography-driven boy-band appeal with contemporary R&B and dance influences.
