About the artist
JINU is the leader and main vocalist of the Saja Boys, a fictional K-pop boy group created for the 2025 Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters. Within the story, Jinu is voiced by the Korean-Canadian actor Ahn Hyo-seop, while the character's singing voice on the film's original songs is performed by Andrew Choi, a vocalist and composer signed to SM Entertainment.
As part of the film's soundtrack concept, the Saja Boys function as an in-universe rival group whose songs are written to sound like authentic, chart-ready K-pop, blending polished pop production with dramatic, emotionally charged vocals. Jinu's signature moment, «Jinu's Lament», showcases this approach with a more introspective, ballad-leaning tone that reveals the character's inner conflict, and the song has since been released in Spanish-language versions as «Jinu's Lament - versión en español» and «Lamento de Jinu», reflecting the franchise's international reach.
Because JINU exists at the intersection of animation and real vocal performance, the project sits in an unusual space within pop music: a fictional idol whose songs, thanks to genuine K-pop songwriting and production talent behind them, have resonated with real audiences well beyond the film itself.
