JEON SOMI (전소미)

JEON SOMI, known professionally as SOMI, is a Korean-Canadian singer based in South Korea and signed to THEBLACKLABEL. She first rose to prominence as a trainee on the survival shows SIXTEEN and Produce 101, where she finished in first place, leading to her debut in the temporary project group I.O.I in 2016, where she served as center before the group disbanded in early 2017.

After a period as a trainee and television personality, appearing on programs like Sister's Slam Dunk and releasing music with the group Unnies, SOMI launched her solo career in June 2019 with the single album BIRTHDAY. Her solo sound blends pop, R&B, and electronic production with hip-hop-inflected vocal delivery, showcased on releases such as «What You Waiting For», «DUMB DUMB», and «XOXO».

In October 2021, she released her first full-length album, XOXO, compiling her singles up through the title track. She has also collaborated with other K-pop and R&B artists, including contributing to JUN. K's «11월부터 2월까지» and Eric Nam's «유후 (You, Who?)». Known for her charisma and dance-driven performances, SOMI has established herself as one of the notable soloists to emerge from Korea's survival-show pipeline.
