About the artist
Jemaine Clement is a New Zealand actor, comedian and musician best known as one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, alongside Bret McKenzie. The pair's deadpan, folk-tinged comedy songs and their eponymous HBO series turned them into cult favorites, blending gentle acoustic arrangements with absurdist lyrics and Clement's dry, sardonic delivery.
Beyond the Conchords, Clement has built a wide-ranging career voicing and performing quirky, offbeat characters, including Tamatoa the treasure-obsessed crab in Disney's «Moana», for which he performed the glam-rock number «Shiny». He has also lent his voice and persona to numerous other animated and live-action projects, consistently drawing on the same wry comic sensibility that defined his musical work.
As a musician, Clement's output tends toward playful, genre-blending pop with comedic songwriting at its core rather than conventional chart ambitions, and his contributions to film soundtracks and comedy scores have introduced his voice to audiences well beyond the original Flight of the Conchords fanbase.
