Jefferson Starship

Jefferson Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco that emerged in the mid-1970s as the successor to Jefferson Airplane, one of the defining groups of the city's psychedelic rock scene. Founding members Paul Kantner and Grace Slick carried the band's lineage forward, with Marty Balin also involved in its early years, steering the group from Airplane's psychedelic roots toward a more polished, radio-friendly rock and pop sound.

The band's best-known era produced melodic, harmony-driven rock with soaring vocals and arena-ready hooks, songs like «Miracles», «Count on Me» and «Jane» exemplifying its shift toward mainstream rock and adult-contemporary pop sensibilities while still carrying traces of its San Francisco rock lineage.
