周杰倫 (Jay Chou)

Jay Chou, born January 18, 1979, in Taipei, Taiwan, is a singer-songwriter, producer, actor and one of the most influential figures in Mandopop. He debuted in 2000 with the self-titled album «Jay» and quickly distinguished himself by writing and composing nearly all of his own material, blending R&B and hip-hop grooves with elements of classical, rock and Chinese traditional music.

Over a discography spanning more than two decades, he became known for lyrically dense, melodically rich songs such as «晴天 (Sunny Day)», «安靜 (Silence)», «夜曲 (Nocturnes)» and «告白氣球 (Love Confession)», many written in collaboration with longtime lyricist Vincent Fang. His genre-blurring approach helped push Mandopop toward more ambitious, experimental songwriting.

Beyond music, Jay Chou has built a substantial acting career and has composed extensively for film and other artists, cementing his status as a multi-disciplinary star across Greater China and the broader Chinese-speaking world.
