Jason Howland

Jason Howland is an American musical theatre composer, music director, and conductor known for his work on Broadway and in the wider American musical theatre scene. He built his reputation working as an arranger, orchestrator, and conductor for stage productions before moving into composing his own works.

He is best known for writing the music for the Broadway musical Little Women, based on Louisa May Alcott's novel, with songs such as «Astonishing» and «Some Things Are Meant To Be» becoming staples of the musical theatre audition repertoire. His melodic, emotionally direct style fits comfortably within the contemporary Broadway pop tradition, favoring soaring ballads and character-driven songwriting.
