Jason Chen

Jason Chen is an American singer-songwriter of Taiwanese descent, born in 1988 and raised in California after his family moved there from Boston. He became one of the early breakout stars of YouTube's cover-song scene, uploading videos starting in 2007 while still a student at UCLA, where he studied economics before turning his attention fully to music. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, he built a following that spans Western pop and Chinese-language markets alike.

His original single «Best Friend» became one of his signature releases, popular enough to warrant acoustic and Mandarin versions, and he has also released bilingual and Mandarin-language material such as «童话 (Tong Hua)» and covers like «Despacito», reflecting his comfort moving between English-language pop/R&B and Chinese pop. His sound centers on smooth, contemporary R&B-pop vocals paired with accessible, melodic songwriting.

Chen has also appeared as a judge on The Voice of China, further cementing his profile in the Chinese-language entertainment world alongside his continued output as an independent, YouTube-rooted artist with a broad cross-cultural fanbase.
