Jamrud

Jamrud is an Indonesian rock band formed in Bandung, West Java, that became one of the country’s most prominent hard rock acts through the 1990s and 2000s. Fronted for most of its history by vocalist Krisyanto, the band built a sound rooted in blues-inflected hard rock with strong pop hooks, which helped bring the genre to a wide mainstream Indonesian audience.

Jamrud’s catalog is marked by anthemic, guitar-driven tracks alongside more melodic, radio-friendly songs, a combination that let them cross over between rock audiences and general pop listeners. Songs such as «Selamat Ulang Tahun» and «Ningrat» became staples of Indonesian rock radio, showing the band’s range from party anthems to sentimental ballads.

Over the decades Jamrud has gone through lineup changes while remaining a fixture of the Indonesian rock scene, often cited alongside other major Indonesian hard rock bands of the era for helping shape the sound of local rock music in the 1990s and 2000s.
