About the artist

Jain, born Jeanne Galice in 1992 in Toulouse, France, is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose childhood moves across Africa and the Middle East shaped a genre-blending sound. Years spent in Congo exposed her to rumba and soukous rhythms and to a local producer who taught her beat-making, while later stints in Dubai and Abu Dhabi added further cross-cultural texture before she settled in Paris to study at an art school.

Her breakthrough single «Makeba», a tribute to South African singer Miriam Makeba, paired tribal-inflected percussion with pop hooks and became an international hit, propelled by a striking self-choreographed music video. It appeared on her debut album Zanaka (2015), followed by Souldier (2018) and Alias (2023), records that continue to fuse Afro-pop, electronic production and folk-pop songwriting.

Songs like «Come», «Alright» and «Heads Up» showcase her knack for percussive, danceable arrangements layered with warm, melodic vocals. Jain has become one of the more distinctive voices in French pop, known for a sound that draws as much on West and Central African music as on European chanson and electronic pop.
