Jah Cure

Jah Cure, born Siccature Alcock and also known as Iyah Cure, is a Jamaican reggae singer raised in Kingston. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s for his rich, soulful voice and lovers-rock leanings within the roots reggae tradition, a sound that set him apart from more dancehall-oriented contemporaries. He took the name Jah Cure after an encounter with fellow reggae artist Capleton, who gave him the moniker during his formative years in Kingston.

His career took an unusual turn when he continued recording and releasing material while serving a lengthy prison sentence, a period that became central to his public story and lent his music themes of longing, faith, and redemption. Songs such as «Longing For» and «Unconditional Love» reflect this emotional depth, blending romantic balladry with spiritual reflection typical of conscious reggae.

Since his release, Jah Cure has continued to record prolifically, working across reggae, R&B-inflected, and pop-leaning arrangements while keeping his warm, melismatic vocal style at the center.
