Jack & Jack

Jack & Jack are an American duo consisting of Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson, who grew up together in Omaha, Nebraska, and became friends as young children. They first rose to prominence in the early 2010s through six-second comedic videos on Vine, quickly amassing a huge following before touring with the Magcon collective alongside other social-media personalities. That platform gave them a launchpad into music, and they transitioned from viral video stars into a genuine pop and hip-hop act.

Musically, Jack & Jack blend melodic pop hooks with light rap verses and R&B-tinged production, trading lines between Gilinsky's smoother vocal delivery and Johnson's rap-leaning cadence. Early singles gave way to increasingly polished releases, and their 2015 EP «Calibraska» — a nod to their Nebraska-California connection — featured the single «California» and helped establish their sound. They followed with the «Gone» EP in 2017 before releasing their debut full-length album, «A Good Friend Is Nice», in 2019.

Over the years the duo has built a catalog of radio-friendly, emotionally direct songs such as «2 Cigarettes», «No One Compares to You», and «Hurt People», often exploring themes of relationships, loyalty, and growing up in the public eye. Their trajectory from internet-native content creators to recording artists made them notable examples of how social platforms could feed directly into pop music careers.
