About the artist
IZAL are a Spanish indie/alternative pop-rock band formed in Madrid in 2010. Fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Mikel Izal, the group built a devoted following in the Spanish-language indie scene through emotionally direct lyrics, dynamic arrangements and a sound that draws on British and American alternative influences alongside homegrown Spanish pop sensibilities. Their music often moves between introspective, stripped-down passages and anthemic, expansive choruses.
The band gained wider recognition through festival appearances and radio-friendly singles that combined literary, often melancholic songwriting with polished, guitar-and-synth-driven production. Tracks such as «Autoterapia», «El Pozo» and «La Increíble Historia Del Hombre Que Podía Volar Pero No Sabía Cómo» showcase their knack for blending narrative storytelling with catchy, radio-ready hooks, while songs like «Bill Murray» and «Pequeña Gran Revolución» highlight their more playful and anthemic side.
Over the years IZAL have become one of the most recognizable names in Spain's indie-pop landscape, known for energetic live shows and a consistent evolution of their sound across successive albums, cementing their place as a bridge between underground indie sensibilities and mainstream Spanish pop-rock.
