About the artist
IOWA is a Belarusian indie-pop band fronted by singer Ekaterina Tereshchenko, whose name references the American metal band Slipknot's album of the same title despite the group's very different, lighter musical style. Formed with guitarist and songwriter Leonid Tereshchenko, the band built a following through catchy, melodic songs sung in Russian, blending indie-pop and electronic elements with accessible pop hooks.
IOWA gained wide popularity across Russian-speaking countries with tracks like «Улыбайся», «Бьёт бит» and «Простая песня», known for their upbeat, danceable production and emotionally direct lyrics. Their releases, including albums such as «Export» and «Import», helped establish them as one of the more distinctive pop acts to emerge from Belarus in the 2010s.
The band continues to release new music and tour, maintaining a loyal fanbase built on relatable songwriting and an energetic live show that balances electronic textures with guitar-driven pop.
