Inner Circle

Inner Circle, often nicknamed The Bad Boys of Reggae, are a Jamaican reggae band formed in Kingston in the late 1960s. Over five decades of activity, the group has moved through various lineups and stylistic phases, evolving from roots reggae into a more polished, pop-friendly sound that helped bring reggae to mainstream international audiences.

The band's biggest commercial breakthrough came with «Bad Boys», which became widely known worldwide after being used as the theme song for the American television show Cops, turning the track into one of the most recognizable reggae songs of its era. Their catalogue also includes «Sweat (A La La La La Long)», a song that found success on pop and dance charts and further cemented their crossover appeal beyond traditional reggae audiences.

Inner Circle's sound blends classic reggae rhythms with pop and R&B production sensibilities, a combination that allowed them to reach listeners well outside Jamaica's reggae scene while maintaining credibility within it. Their decades-long career and hit singles have made them one of the more commercially recognizable reggae acts internationally, helping popularize the genre for a global pop audience.
