Imogen Heap

Imogen Heap is an English singer-songwriter, producer, and composer known for writing, producing, and mixing nearly all of her own music, a rarity among mainstream pop artists. She first emerged with the 1998 solo debut iMegaphone, then gained wider recognition through Frou Frou, her collaborative project with producer Guy Sigsworth, whose 2002 album Details produced the enduring favorite «Let Go».

Heap's solo career reached new heights with 2005's Speak for Yourself, a self-produced album that yielded some of her most recognizable songs, including «Headlock», «Goodnight and Go», and «Hide and Seek», the last of which became a cultural phenomenon through its distinctive vocoder-heavy sound and widespread use in television and film. Her 2009 follow-up, Ellipse, built on this success, earning two Grammy nominations and winning Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, a reflection of her meticulous studio craft.

Known for blending intricate electronic production with emotionally raw songwriting, Heap has also been a pioneer in music technology, developing the Mi.Mu gloves for gestural music performance. In 2010 she received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement, cementing her reputation as one of the most inventive and technically accomplished artists in contemporary pop and electronic music.
