Icona Pop

Icona Pop is a Swedish electropop duo formed in Stockholm in 2009 by Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, who met at a party and quickly bonded over a shared love of pop and dance music. Their early EP Nights Like This introduced them with the spunky single «Manners», earning attention from outlets like NME and The Guardian and setting the tone for their brash, high-energy sound.

The duo broke through internationally in 2012 with «I Love It», a collaboration with Charli XCX produced by Patrik Berger, which became a massive global hit, topping the UK Singles Chart and reaching the Top 10 in the US while soundtracking shows and films such as Girls and Glee. The song's maximalist, nihilistic energy became a defining example of the era's electropop sound, blending dance-pop hooks with a punk attitude. Later singles including «All Night», «Emergency» and «Girlfriend» continued to showcase their knack for anthemic, party-ready choruses.

Known for their raucous live shows and unapologetically fun aesthetic, Hjelt and Jawo have built a career on turning big emotions into instantly memorable pop moments, remaining a recognizable name in Swedish and international electropop.
