IAMX

IAMX is the solo project of British musician Chris Corner, formerly the frontman and songwriter of the trip-hop duo Sneaker Pimps. Founded in London in 2004 as an independent, self-produced venture, IAMX gave Corner full creative control over both music and visual identity, and the project has since become known for its striking, self-directed videos and elaborate stage presentation as much as for its songs.

Musically, IAMX ranges widely across electronic rock, dark synth-pop and dance-influenced production, occasionally veering into burlesque-tinged cabaret and stripped-back emotional balladry. Corner's distinctive, elastic voice and his hands-on programming of beats and textures tie together tracks like «Bernadette», «I Come With Knives» and «Stardust», while songs such as «Insomnia», «Animal Impulses» and «Stalker» lean into the project's recurring fascination with obsession, addiction, sexuality and psychological unease.

As an independent artist, Corner has built IAMX outside the major-label system, cultivating a devoted following through constant reinvention of sound and image across releases like «Volatile Times» and «Happiness». The project's blend of confrontational themes, theatrical live shows and genre-crossing production has made it a distinctive fixture of alternative electronic music since the mid-2000s.
