About the artist
Hoàng Thùy Linh is a Vietnamese singer, actress, and television host from Hanoi, born on August 11, 1988. She began her music career in the early 2010s, first drawing attention with songs like «Rơi», «Hờn Dỗi», and «Bánh Trôi Nước», before establishing herself as one of Vietnam's most distinctive pop artists. Her sound blends contemporary pop, electronic, R&B, and rap with elements drawn from Vietnamese folklore, literature, and traditional culture, giving her music a strongly nationalist yet modern identity.
Her breakthrough came in 2019 with the album Hoàng, anchored by the hit «Để Mị Nói Cho Mà Nghe», inspired by the short story Vợ Chồng A Phủ, which topped YouTube Vietnam's trending chart for weeks. The album also featured «Tứ Phủ» and «Duyên Âm», reinforcing her signature style of reworking Vietnamese cultural references into slick, danceable pop productions. That year she was recognized as Best Asian Artist – Vietnam at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
She followed this success with further hits such as «Kẻ Cắp Gặp Bà Già», «Em Đây Chẳng Phải Thúy Kiều» (referencing the classic Vietnamese epic Truyện Kiều), «Gieo Quẻ», and the global viral hit «See Tình», which became a major meme and dance-challenge phenomenon across Asia and beyond. Hoàng Thùy Linh is widely regarded as a leading figure in modern Vietnamese pop (V-pop), known for pairing catchy production with cultural storytelling.
