Henry Gross

Henry Gross was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist best known for his 1976 hit single «Shannon», a wistful ballad written after the death of a friend's dog that became a major crossover pop and soft-rock hit. Before his solo career took off, Gross was a founding member of the doo-wop revival group Sha Na Na, which he left as a teenager to pursue songwriting and a solo path in the rock and pop world.

His sound sat comfortably within the mellow, melodic singer-songwriter and soft-rock currents of the mid-1970s, marked by warm vocals, acoustic-leaning arrangements, and an emotional, personal songwriting style.
