Heartless Bastards

Heartless Bastards are an American rock band formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2003, later relocating to Austin, Texas. Built around the powerful, gravelly voice of frontwoman Erika Wennerstrom, the group draws on classic rock, blues and Americana traditions, filtered through a raw, garage-rock energy. Their name reportedly comes from a trivia-game answer about Tom Petty's backing band.

The band's sound has evolved from stripped-down, riff-driven rock on their earliest releases toward a fuller, more expansive Americana style on later albums, with Wennerstrom's voice — often compared to classic blues and soul singers — remaining the constant anchor. Songs such as «Sway», «Hold Your Head High» and «The Mountain» capture this blend of grit and melodic openness.
