Hayley Kiyoko

Hayley Kiyoko is an American singer-songwriter and actress from California, widely recognized as an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility in pop music, often nicknamed «Lesbian Jesus» by fans. Before establishing her music career she worked as a child actress, appearing in Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, Lemonade Mouth and Disney Channel productions, and performed as a member of the short-lived girl group The Stunners. Her father, Jamie Alcroft, is an actor, and her mother, Sarah Kawahara, is a figure skater and Emmy-winning choreographer.

Kiyoko released her debut EP «A Belle to Remember» in 2013 before turning fully to music. Her 2015 single «Girls Like Girls» became a breakthrough, its self-directed music video amassing enormous attention for its candid depiction of a same-sex teenage romance and cementing her identity as an artist unafraid to center queer experience in mainstream pop. She followed with the EP «Citrine» (2015) and her debut album «Expectations» (2018), which further explored themes of identity, longing and self-acceptance through glossy electro-pop production.

Her sound blends pop and R&B textures with electronic production, marked by confident hooks and cinematic, narrative-driven visuals — a natural extension of her acting background. Songs like «Curious», «Feelings» and «Sleepover» showcase her knack for pairing danceable production with emotionally direct lyrics. Beyond music, Kiyoko has continued acting and has been a visible voice in conversations about representation in the entertainment industry.
