About the artist
Gyllene Tider is one of the most successful Swedish pop groups of all time, formed in Halmstad in 1978. The band was fronted by Per Gessle, later famous worldwide as one half of Roxette, alongside Mats Persson on guitar, Anders Herrlin on bass, Göran Fritzon on keyboards, and Micke Andersson on drums.
The group broke through with the single «Flickorna på TV2» in late 1979, followed by their classic self-titled debut album in early 1980. Their sound was built on bright, hook-driven power pop with a strong new wave energy, capturing a youthful, nostalgic Swedish summer feeling that resonated deeply with audiences, as heard in enduring hits like «När vi två blir en» and «Sommartider».
Over more than four decades of intermittent activity, Gyllene Tider became fixtures of Swedish popular music and the Svensktoppen charts, reuniting periodically for tours and new material even as Gessle pursued his international career. The band released its eleventh and final studio album, Samma skrot och korn, in 2019, followed by a farewell tour before splitting up, leaving behind a catalog regarded as foundational to modern Swedish pop.
