About the artist
Gyakie is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter, born Jackline Acheampong, who emerged as one of the leading voices in the new wave of Afrobeats and Afro-fusion artists from West Africa. She is the daughter of veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Nana Acheampong, and grew up immersed in music before pursuing her own career.
She gained widespread attention with her breakout single «Forever», released in 2020, whose smooth, romantic sound and laid-back Afro-pop production helped it become a continental hit and later spawn an official remix featuring other African artists. Her music blends Afrobeats, R&B, and highlife influences with soft, melodic vocals, often centered on themes of love and relationships, as heard in songs like «Something» and «Need Me».
Gyakie has continued to build an international following, collaborating with artists across Africa and beyond, and is regarded as part of a generation of young Ghanaian and West African musicians bringing Afro-fusion sounds to global audiences.
