Gummibär, also known as the Gummy Bear, is a German-created animated character — a dancing, giggling gummy bear who sings in a high-pitched, deliberately silly voice. He first appeared online in the mid-2000s and exploded into a global phenomenon in late 2007 with his debut single «I Am A Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song)», a novelty electro-pop track built around a nonsensical, endlessly repeated chant. The song was released just ahead of his debut album «I Am Your Gummy Bear» and quickly became one of the defining viral hits of the early YouTube era.

What set Gummibär apart from other novelty acts was its multilingual strategy: the same song was re-recorded and released in dozens of language versions, including German, Russian, Spanish and Swedish variants, letting the character build fanbases across many countries simultaneously rather than relying on a single hit market.
