About the artist
Guaynaa, born Jean Carlos Santiago on January 12, 1992, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican singer and rapper who took his stage name from the demonym of Guaynabo, a municipality he associates with due to his distinctive style of dress, having previously performed as Jeanco el Guayna. He first gained attention in 2017 with a freestyle video reacting to Hurricane Maria, but his popularity truly took off in early 2019.
His breakout single «Rebota» became a viral hit, trending on YouTube and reaching the top 10 on Spotify charts across several Latin American countries. The success of «Rebota» and its subsequent remix positioned Guaynaa as a fresh voice in the Latin urban scene, blending reggaeton, pop, and electronic influences.
Guaynaa is known for a simple, beach-inflected, down-to-earth style, and much of his appeal comes from reviving dembow and perreo, two reggaeton subgenres that had fallen somewhat out of fashion. Beyond «Rebota», tracks like «Chicharrón», «Buyaka», and «La Stripper» showcase his playful, danceable approach to Latin pop and urban music.
