Glenn Frey

Glenn Frey (1948–2016) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and founding member of the Eagles, one of the best-selling rock bands in history. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he moved to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, where he co-founded the Eagles with Don Henley, becoming the band's co-lead vocalist and frontman alongside him.

As a member of the Eagles, Frey sang lead on classics such as «Take It Easy», «Peaceful Easy Feeling», and «Tequila Sunrise», helping define the laid-back, harmony-driven country-rock sound that made the group a defining act of 1970s American rock. During the band's 1980–1994 hiatus, Frey built a successful solo career marked by a shift toward radio-friendly pop-rock, scoring hits such as «The Heat Is On», «Smuggler's Blues», «You Belong to the City», and «Sexy Girl», several of which became closely tied to the visual culture of 1980s film and television.

Frey also pursued acting during this period, appearing in film and TV roles that complemented his music career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Eagles in 1998 and won multiple Grammy Awards and American Music Awards. He died in January 2016, leaving behind a legacy as one of the architects of American country-rock and a defining voice of 1980s pop-rock radio.
