Gigi Perez

Gigi Perez, born Gianna Brielle Perez, is a folk-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist from Florida. Inspired by her older sister, she began making music in 2016 and spent several years playing in the band Wendy Lane before it went inactive in late 2021. Her breakthrough came in early 2021, when a TikTok video of her playing the song «Sometimes (Backwood)» went viral, followed a day later by a tribute video for «Celene», written for her older sister who had passed away in 2020 — both moments that introduced her raw, confessional songwriting to a wide audience.

«Sometimes (Backwood)» was officially released shortly after and went on to amass well over a hundred million streams, propelling Gigi to sign with Interscope Records. She built on that momentum with her 2023 debut EP, How To Catch A Falling Knife, and later scored a major hit with «Sailor Song», which brought her into the mainstream spotlight and led to opening slots for Coldplay on the Music of the Spheres World Tour and for Noah Cyrus on The Hardest Part Tour.

Gigi's music blends intimate folk instrumentation with rock textures, and her lyrics openly explore grief, faith, and queer identity, giving her songwriting a directness that has resonated widely with listeners. After parting ways with Interscope, she chose to continue independently, citing burnout from the industry — a decision that reflects her broader emphasis on authenticity and creative control over major-label expectations.
