GFRIEND

GFRIEND was a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music, debuting in January 2015 with the EP Season of Glass. The lineup — Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji — quickly stood out in a crowded K-pop landscape thanks to a signature blend of nostalgic, youthful concepts with unusually athletic, synchronized choreography, earning comparisons for their «knife-like» dance precision.

Musically the group balanced powerful vocal performances with emotionally charged songwriting, a combination fans and critics came to describe as their own genre of passionate melancholy wrapped in innocent charm. Breakout hits like «귀를 기울이면 (Love Whisper)», «시간을 달려서 (Rough)» and «너 그리고 나 (Navillera)» showcased driving synth-pop production alongside more delicate, string-laced ballads such as «밤 (Time for the Moon Night)».

Despite debuting under a smaller label, GFRIEND built a devoted fanbase known as Buddy and became one of the defining girl groups of the mid-2010s hallyu wave, with «여름비 (Summer Rain)» and «해야 (Sunrise)» further extending their run of chart-topping, choreography-driven releases before the group later disbanded.
