Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle Aplin is an English singer-songwriter born on 10 October 1992 in Sutton Benger, Wiltshire. She built an early following on YouTube by posting acoustic covers of songs by bands like Paramore and You Me at Six, releasing independent EPs such as «Never Fade» and «Home» before signing to Parlophone in 2012.

Aplin reached a mass audience later that year when her cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s «The Power of Love» soundtracked a John Lewis Christmas advert and climbed to number one on the UK Singles Chart. Her 2013 debut album «English Rain» cemented her folky, intimate singer-songwriter style, built around delicate acoustic guitar work and warm, understated vocals, and featured earlier singles «Home» and «Panic Cord».

Over the following years she continued to release material blending pop, folk and light electronic textures, with songs like «Salvation» and «Miss You» showing her range beyond her early acoustic sound.
