Froukje

Froukje, full name Froukje Veenstra, is a Dutch singer-songwriter from the Netherlands who studied music at Codarts in Rotterdam before breaking through in early 2020 with her single «Groter Dan Ik». The song, written from her own perspective on the climate crisis, went viral and quickly established her as one of the most promising new voices in Dutch alternative pop.

Her sound blends danceable, contemporary pop and electronic production with sharply observed, personal Dutch-language lyrics that tackle existential and social themes, delivered with a natural, understated vocal style paired with strong melodic instincts. Follow-up singles like «Ik Wil Dansen» built on this approach and quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of views and millions of streams.

Her rapid rise was recognized with major honors, including the Eurosonic Noorderslag Kickstart Award for new talent and the 3FM Talent Award, and she was named a top new pop talent by Dutch media. She has also performed by invitation alongside established Dutch artists such as Wende Snijders, cementing her place as a leading figure in the new generation of Dutch-language pop.
