ФРЕНДЗОНА (FRIENDZONA)

Friendzona was a school-age pop-rock group whose music captured the atmosphere of teenage daydreams, cheap cigarettes and the small-scale drama of growing up. Rather than presenting themselves as a polished, professional act, the group leaned into a homemade, diaristic aesthetic that resonated with a young audience recognizing its own experiences in the songs — first loves, awkward crushes, exams and friendships that never quite become something more.

The band's lineup included members known by the nicknames Мэйклав, Мэйби Бэйби, Кроки Бой and Кисёш Писёш, along with former member Диджей Валера. Their songs — «Девственница (Virgin)», «Бойчик (Boy)», «Кокоро (Kokoro)», «Последний экзамен (Last Exam)», «Пурпурное небо (Purple Sky)», «Психолог (Psychologist)», «Неидеальные люди (Imperfect People)» and «Новенькая (New Girl)» — move between pop, rock, rap and R&B influences, reflecting an eclectic, internet-native approach typical of young DIY acts rather than a fixed genre identity.

Friendzona disbanded in April 2022. Their catalogue remains a snapshot of a very specific moment — school-age creativity turned into music — self-deprecatingly summed up by the group itself as a friend zone nobody escapes from.
