Francis and the Lights

Francis and the Lights is the musical project of American singer, songwriter and producer Francis Farewell Starlite, who remains its only permanent member. The name references both the lights of a live stage and the pixels of a screen, reflecting Starlite's interest in blending live performance, dance and technology into a distinctive visual and sonic identity built around minimalist synth-pop and R&B-inflected songwriting.

After years of releasing EPs and appearing as a guest and collaborator with other artists, Francis and the Lights released the debut full-length album «Farewell, Starlite!» in 2016. The record featured high-profile collaborators and longtime friends, including Bon Iver on «Friends» and Chance the Rapper on the remix of «May I Have This Dance», with Kanye West also contributing vocals to «Friends» and «My City's Gone». The follow-up album, «Just for Us», arrived in 2017, continuing the project's warm, intimate synth-driven sound.

Known for his expressive dance moves and close ties to artists across pop, hip-hop and indie music, Francis Farewell Starlite has built a reputation as a favorite collaborator among fellow musicians. Tracks such as «Friends», «Take Me to the Light» and «Morning» capture the project's blend of tender songwriting, danceable rhythm and understated electronic production.
