About the artist
Fast Life Yungstaz, known by the acronym F.L.Y., is an American hip hop trio from Stone Mountain, Georgia, made up of members going by iMcFli, Vee and Mook. The group rose to national attention in the early 2010s on the back of a single dance-craze record that became a fixture at stadiums, sporting events and school functions across the United States.
Their signature hit, «Swag Surfin'», built around a call-and-response hook and a synchronized group dance, became a viral and cultural phenomenon well beyond typical rap radio play, adopted by college marching bands, sports crowds and party DJs alike. It captured the youthful, party-driven strain of early-2010s Southern hip hop, favoring catchy, repeatable hooks and simple, bouncy production over dense lyricism.
While F.L.Y. never sustained the same commercial momentum with later material such as «Highspeed» and «Splashin'», the group remains closely associated with one of the defining dance-and-chant records of the era, a song that continues to be played at American sporting events years after its release.
