About the artist
Flavour, born Chinedu Okoli, is a Nigerian singer and multi-instrumentalist from Enugu State whose sound blends highlife, Igbo folk rhythms, and contemporary Afropop. He started out playing drums and other instruments in church before moving into mainstream music, developing a style built on live-band instrumentation, brass, and percussion that sets him apart from the more electronic Afrobeats mainstream.
He became one of the most recognizable voices in African highlife-pop after the breakout success of «Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)», a song that spread across Nigeria and beyond and remains one of the genre's defining hits. He followed it with a run of romantic, dance-friendly singles such as «Ada Ada», «Ololufe», and «Golibe», often built around Igbo-language hooks and traditional highlife guitar and horn lines.
Flavour has collaborated widely across African and diaspora music scenes and is associated with 2nite Entertainment. His catalogue, including songs like «Virtuous Woman» and «Black is Beautiful», is often cited as a bridge between older highlife traditions and modern pan-African pop audiences.
