Fireboy DML

Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan on February 5, 1996, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, is a singer and songwriter whose music grew out of his early years singing in church choir. Citing influences like Jon Bellion and Passenger, he developed a songwriting style that blends Afrobeats rhythms with R&B melodicism and pop sensibility, distinguishing him within Nigeria's Afrobeats wave for his emotive, vocal-forward approach rather than pure dance-floor energy.

He broke through with the single «Jealous», which led to his debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, showcasing his range as a songwriter. His second album, APOLLO (2020), leaned further into R&B-inflected Afro sounds and was well received by critics and fans alike.

Fireboy's biggest global moment came with «Peru» in 2021, which topped the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart and was later remixed with Ed Sheeran, reaching the Billboard Hot 100, followed by a further remix featuring 21 Savage. These collaborations, alongside tracks like «Bandana», «Vibration» and «Champion», have made him one of the defining voices of contemporary Afrobeats' crossover into global pop.
