About the artist
Feride Hilal Akın is a Turkish pop singer born in Ankara in March 1996, who first built her audience by posting cover videos online before making her stage debut in her late teens. Her performances online drew millions of views and led to a recording contract, with early releases such as «Bilir Mi» and «Şehrin Yolu» introducing her voice to a wider Turkish pop audience.
Akın's breakthrough came with «Yok Yok» in 2019, a song that topped Turkish charts and became one of the defining pop hits of the year, cementing her as a leading voice among her generation of artists. Alongside her music career she has also worked as an actress, appearing in the television series «Yeni Gelin» and the film «Kafalar Karışık».
Her sound draws on contemporary Turkish pop with R&B and hip-hop-inflected production, and later work such as «Kim» and «Tutku» shows her experimenting further with Afrobeat and dancehall textures. Akın is known for combining an emotive, melodic pop delivery with a willingness to explore newer international sounds within the Turkish pop scene.
