About the artist
Faithless were a British electronic music group formed in London in the mid-1990s, built around DJ and producer Rollo Armstrong, singer and rapper Maxi Jazz, and keyboardist and vocalist Sister Bliss. Emerging from the UK's post-rave club scene, the group became one of the defining acts of 1990s and 2000s electronica, fusing house and trance production with Maxi Jazz's distinctive spoken-word rap delivery and Sister Bliss's soaring keyboard lines.
Their sound was immediately recognizable: hypnotic, building arrangements paired with lyrics that leaned philosophical and socially conscious rather than club-cliché. Tracks like «Insomnia», «God Is a DJ», «Reverence» and «We Come 1» became anthems of the era, played across radio and dancefloors alike and helping bring dance music to mainstream chart audiences without losing its underground credibility.
Faithless released a string of albums through the late 1990s and 2000s and toured extensively, becoming known for their large-scale live shows that translated studio productions into full-band arrangements. Maxi Jazz's calm, measured vocal presence became the group's signature, contrasting with the euphoric electronic backdrop and giving the band a distinct identity within the broader UK electronica movement.
