EXO

EXO is a South Korean boy group formed by SM Entertainment in Seoul, debuting in 2012 with a bilingual promotional structure split into EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin). The group became one of the defining acts of the third generation of K-pop, known for elaborate concept-driven eras built around a shared fictional mythology of supernatural powers, paired with tightly choreographed group and unit performances.

Musically EXO ranges across polished dance-pop, R&B-inflected ballads and electronic production, with singles like «Growl», «Call Me Baby», «Ko Ko Bop» and «Love Shot» showcasing the group's shift from hip-hop-leaning synth pop toward funkier, more tropical and R&B textures over the years. Several members write and produce, most notably Chanyeol and Suho, and the group has released material in Korean, Mandarin and Japanese for different regional markets.

EXO's lineup has changed since debut, with Kris, Luhan and Tao departing in the mid-2010s, leaving a core line-up including Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, Xiumin and Lay. The group has spawned successful sub-units such as EXO-CBX and EXO-SC, and its members are also prolific soloists and actors, cementing EXO's status as one of the best-selling and most influential boy groups in K-pop history.
