Eraserheads

Eraserheads are a Filipino rock band formed in 1989 in Manila, consisting of Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala and Raimund Marasigan. Widely regarded as one of the most influential and commercially successful bands in Philippine music history, they are often called the «Beatles of the Philippines» and are credited with sparking a new wave of local band culture, inspiring countless OPM (Original Pilipino Music) acts that followed them.

Their sound blended jangly, melodic rock with pop sensibilities, folk-influenced storytelling, and occasional country and psychedelic touches, all delivered largely in Tagalog, which helped make their songwriting feel intimate and culturally rooted. Songs like «Ang Huling El Bimbo», «Pare Ko», «Alapaap» and «Ligaya» became generational anthems, mixing everyday Filipino experience with sharp, often bittersweet lyricism, while tracks such as «With A Smile» and «Minsan» showcased their more tender, radio-friendly side.

Albums and songs like «Spoliarium» and «Magasin» further cemented their reputation for restless experimentation within a pop-rock framework. Eraserheads' catalog remains a cornerstone of Philippine popular music, and their influence extends across generations of local rock and pop artists who grew up on their songs.
