Emei

Emei, born Emily Li, is a Los Angeles-based alternative-pop singer and songwriter whose career began unusually early: at fifteen she appeared on the reality competition Chinese Idol. Rather than pursuing music full-time right away, she went on to earn a degree in Cognitive Science from Yale College, graduating in 2022. That academic background shows up in the sharp, self-aware lyricism that runs through her songs, which often dissect anxiety, self-worth, and modern relationships with a mix of humor and bluntness.

Her recording career formally opened in August 2021 with the single «Distracted», made alongside producer LEXIM, followed soon after by her debut EP End of an Era. Around this period she relocated from New Haven, Connecticut to Los Angeles to focus on music full-time.
