About the artist
Eddy de Pretto is a French singer-songwriter born in 1993 in Créteil, in the Val-de-Marne region near Paris. After early training in theater and singing and a start as an actor, he turned to writing his own songs, releasing his debut EP «Kid» in 2017 and his first full album, «Cure», in early 2018, later expanded into a reissue titled «Culte».
His music is distinctive for fusing French chanson traditions with contemporary hip-hop rhythms and spoken-word delivery, creating a raw, urgent style that tackles themes of masculinity, identity, class and family with unusual directness for French pop. Songs like «Kid», «Fête de trop» and «Normal» showcase this hybrid approach, blending melodic hooks with rap-inflected verses.
De Pretto quickly became one of the most talked-about new voices in French music, praised for bringing a frank, confessional perspective on growing up working-class and questioning traditional ideas of masculinity, while pushing the boundaries of what French chanson could sound like in a hip-hop era.
