Eddie Santiago is a Puerto Rican singer widely regarded as one of the pioneers of salsa romántica, the smoother, more romantic style of salsa that emerged in the 1980s as a counterpoint to the harder-edged salsa dura of earlier decades. His voice and phrasing helped define the sound of romantic salsa alongside contemporaries like Frankie Ruiz and Lalo Rodríguez.

His music is characterized by lush arrangements, tender lyrics about love and heartbreak, and a smooth vocal delivery that made him a favorite for slow-dancing crowds across Latin America and the United States. Songs such as «Lluvia», «Tu Me Haces Falta» and «Que Locura Enamorarme De Ti» became staples of the genre and remain popular on salsa radio to this day.
